Splashway is growing and with that are growing pains, but perhaps the most painful is our cart/ATV issue. There is only so much we can do to patrol the situation, and at this time, we are calling on you for support. Please pay close attention to the following announcement and changes, as we mean serious business!
Beginning Sunday, August 1, 2021, any underage individual or reckless driver caught driving any golf cart or recreational vehicle such as a ranger, mule, Kawasaki, or otherwise will be warned only once. If you are caught breaking the rules, you and your family will have your season passes revoked; you will be banned from Splashway Campgrounds and escorted off the property. YES, that means we will ask you to leave and not to return. I know it sounds harsh, but we are not willing to wait for an accident to ensure the safety of all guests camping with Splashway. THE RULE IS NOBODY UNDER THE AGE OF 18 IS PERMITTED TO DRIVE ON OUR PROPERTY. Parents: You have to take responsibility, and stating that you permit them to drive is NOT what we are talking about. There is entirely too much underage driving happening, and we are no longer going to tolerate it at any level. I apologize to those of you for whom this may offend. We will stand by it.
Golf carts and ATV’s/RTV’s should be meant as a means to transport you and your family from point A to point B. Joyriding is a concern and is frowned upon. It’s not an amenity or attraction we recommend.
We’re asking each of you to help us take action against young drivers and adults driving recklessly on our property. If you see it, report it immediately to management.
We have never been overly forceful as we respect so many of you and had hoped everyone shared responsible oversight of their youth. However, that has not been the case. We know you enjoy the opportunity to bring your vehicle to Splashway, and we are trying to allow that to continue. However, this is a major safety concern and long overdue for major action! If this does not resolve our issue, our next steps will be to ban all personal recreation vehicles and possibly golf carts.
In addition to this measure, all recreational vehicles, including personal golf carts, must be checked in, approved, and pay a property fee of $75 for an annual tag that is to be prominently displayed on your cart. If not prominently displayed, we will ask you to do so, and failure to do so will result in the same actions mentioned above for minors driving vehicles. This tag will remain good for the remainder of 2021. The vehicle passes/tags are available in the Adventure Station and Camp Store during operating hours. We will also offer a $25 pass for a 1-time visit/weekend pass. The weekend pass can be upgraded to an annual pass if done so before the end of the visit the pass was purchased for.
